DaMarcus Beasley put up for sale with return to MLS on his mind

USMNT defender DaMarcus Beasley could be coming home soon.

His Liga MX club Puebla listed Beasley as one of 16 players on its official transfer list, paving the way for him to make a return to Major League Soccer.

And according to Mexican newspaper Diario Cambio, he’s highly interested in making the move after the World Cup is completed.

The former Chicago Fire and and Los Angeles Galaxy defender hasn’t played in MLS since 2004, and his last club Chicago no longer owns his allocation rights, meaning he would be up for allocation via the ranking system.

This isn’t the first time Puebla have tried to offload Beasley, with fellow Liga MX side Queretaro coming so close to acquiring his services that they even announced it on their official website before it was eventually nixed.

Puebla have failed to make the playoffs in each of his six seasons at the club, and they were very nearly relegated this past cycle.

Beasley is currently with the USMNT in California for camp in the run-up to the World Cup, and is expected to make the final roster.  He is looking to get back to 100% following a minor leg injury sustained in Puebla’s penultimate match of the season in late April.
