A 3 man defense with 2 wing backs? Buffon is good, but he isn’t that good ;)

  4. navyeoddavee9 - May 30, 2014 at 3:33 PM

Wills: u only have 10 players

  5. navyeoddavee9 - May 30, 2014 at 3:34 PM

    John: u too

    Here’s my squad:

    ——————–Messi————————

    Ronaldo———–Ozil————–Robben

    ———–Iniesta———–Vidal————–

    Baines—Thiago Silva—Pique—Lahm

    ———————Howard——————–

And I’ll invest the $1 I didn’t spend. I’ll have to ask Vidal to maintain some discipline and use his engine a little further back than normal to allow my other offensive players the freedom they need, but other than maybe a little too much emphasis on attack, this lineup is solid.

By your cash metric, I think Lahm, Ozil, Schweinsteiger, Vidal, and Robben are undervalued. Alba, Busquets, Cabaye are overvalued, and to a lesser extent Zabaleta and Gerrard as well. Picking between Vidal and Schweinsteiger was hard.

      ———————-Neymar (4)——–Sturridge (3)—————
      Hazard (5)–Schweinsteiger(2)–Bradley (1)—Robben (2)
      Lahm (2)———–Kompany (5)—Ramos (3)——-Alves (2)
      ————————————-Howard (1)—————————

Robben and Lahm are great deals at $2 each. I chose to go with Bradley, Neymar for $5 instead of Iniesta, Costa. I like my team a lot!

      • ascriptlikethis - May 30, 2014 at 4:18 PM

Ozil had as many goals as Van Persie in qualifying, and had as many assists as Pirlo, Gerrard, Van Persie, and Cristiano Ronaldo combined

  7. dws110 - May 30, 2014 at 4:02 PM

    GK: Lloris ($2)
    Def: Ramos ($3) Baines ($2) Lahm ($2)
    Mid: Toure ($5) Vidal ($1) Schweinsteiger ($2…seriously?) Robben ($2…SERIOUSLY??)
    Forwards: Suarez ($5) Neymar ($4) Dempsey ($1)

    Total = $29

  8. navyeoddavee9 - May 30, 2014 at 4:03 PM

Wills: see u corrected, my bad

  9. braxtonrob - May 30, 2014 at 4:27 PM

  10. fantom21 - May 30, 2014 at 6:02 PM

    Buffon(3)

    Boateng(1) Ramos(3) Hummels(3)

    Schweinsteiger(2)
    Yaya(5) Vidal(1)
    Ozil(1)

    Ronaldo(5) Neymar(4)
    Van Persie(2)

30 total, Schweinsteiger holding, Yaya and Vidal attack, not at the same time. Ozil #10 playmaker with no defensive duties( that’s when he’s most comfortable). Ronaldo and Neymar wings( they are both comfortable on either side, can swap). Van Persie classic #11 or #9.

Trying to figure out the point of this. All you do is make a lineup??? Is there any scoring or place to track how my pics do??

  14. earlrhee - May 31, 2014 at 1:59 AM

    Messi—————Falcao————–Pedro
    —-D. Silva—————————–Ozil——
    ——–Schweinsteiger—Iniesta————-
    Lahm—————T. Silva————Ramos
    ————————-Lloris———————–

    – Relying on Schweiny as the tough-tackling defensive midfielder, along with the rest of the midfield selection, makes this team very attack-oriented and defensively vulnerable
    – The defenders, especially the outside backs, makes this team well-balanced and will not get burned on the flanks, as opposed to using big, bumbling center backs on the outside
    – Say what you will about Lloris’s cavalier style, he can make some nice saves
    – This team can be the next Barcelona squad (tiki-taka baby)
    – This team assumes that Falcao will be healthy, which I really (faintly) hope he will be as there have been too many injury disappointments with this World Cup already
