Croatian National Team players photographed nude, respond by banning media

With some clever Googling you can now fulfill your dreams of seeing the Croatian National Team swimming nude at their team pool in Brazil.

Still here?

Fantastic.

The photos were snapped by over-eager photographers while hidden in some nearby bushes – standard Paparazzi protocol, really – and then dispersed through various media outlets, incensing the Vatreni players to the point where they are no longer talking to the media.

Bummer.

The media ban was relayed by Croatia head coach, Niko Kovac, on Sunday when he fumed at reporters:

I can’t force them to be at your disposal after what you have done to them and their families.

How would you feel if someone took naked pictures of you? They are adamant that they won’t speak to you lot any more and I don’t know whether the silence will end tomorrow or last until the end of our World Cup campaign.

I respect my players’ opinion and I also know that you have done a very professional job so far but you blew it with this one. The whole world has seen the photos.

After cruelly being denied a tournament-changing point by referee Yuichi Nishimura in Thursday’s 3-1 loss to Brazil, it’s unclear how Croatia will react to their twig and berries being exposed to the entire world. For the team’s sake, the ban will serve to motivate as Wednesday’s match with Cameroon is a ‘must-win’ contest after the Indomitable Lions lost 1-0 to Mexico on Friday.
