LeBron James announced he will be returning home to Cleveland earlier this week

What he didn’t mention was a nice little trip to Rio de Janeiro on the way.

‘King James’ was invited to the World Cup final by FIFA, alongside the likes of Ashton Kutcher, Daniel Craig, head of states from across the world and many of the greatest soccer names on the planet.

Check out FIFA’s full VVIP list (that extra V means they are pretty special) here.

Below is the President of the U.S. Soccer Federation, Sunil Gulati, pictured with LeBron who is wearing a U.S. national team scarf before Sunday’s final at the Maracana Stadium.

With James’ links to soccer after investing in Liverpool Football Club, it’s easy to see why one of the biggest names in U.S. sports is high on FIFA’s list of VIP’s.

LeBron is taking his talents to Cleveland but for now, he’s chilling in Rio.

FIFA, the only athletic governing body that can make the NCAA look like the good guys.
