Spanish publication doctors Big House photo to look more Real Madrid-y

Aug 3, 2014, 11:31 AM EDT

There were a lot of soccer fans in a decidedly-red Big House for Saturday’s International Champions Cup tussle between Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Just how red was it? Not very, if you trust the folks at Spanish newspaper MARCA (Full marks to The 90th minute for picking up on this and shooting the info out to the world).

Here’s one of a pair of photos we posted from Saturday’s match:

Here’s how MARCA readers saw it:

And side-by-side: source: Since some will surely state that Manchester United doctored their photo to bring out the red, here’s a telling shot courtesy of the University of Michigan:

Come on now, Marca. It’s 2014.

All information and “news,” whether it is on the internet, TV, or printed, comes with an agenda. Always be mindful of the source and ask what their motivation might be. There are no journalistic rules. The message overrides objectivity every time.

Honestly, it’s hard to judge the proportion of support in any of the (non-PhotoShopped) images, since red plus white is still red.

Saw a lot of red during the tv broadcast. What a crowd. Can you imagine the roar if James made an appearance.
