WATCH: Donovan speaks to the DP Show about retirement and life after soccer

Aug 8, 2014, 3:49 PM EDT

After Landon Donovan’s retirement settled in with the soccer community, the US legend stopped by the Dan Patrick Show to talk about his decision and what he does with his career now.

With his broadcasting resume having been opened for business during the World Cup, Donovan made it pretty clear he’s looking to get into commentary after his playing days are over, and now he has a way in, with Patrick giving him an open invitation to co-host the show.

Donovan accepts, although he wants to temporarily change the show name to Landon and the Don-ettes. Creative.

Would you like to see Donovan behind the mic after his retirement?

Once he gets the hang of it I think he’ll be fine. He’s a little rough currently.

His voice is terrible for TV. Twellman has the background of tons of baseball in his family to create the voice stylings acceptable for TV.
