Come at the king: Sepp Blatter challenges FIFA presidential rivals

What? You think you can beat Sepp Blatter in a FIFA election?

You come at the king, you best not miss.

The FIFA president brushed aside the concept of anyone usurping his post via vote in a “Bring it on” moment that sounded about as intense as Blatter, 79, could sound.

From the Associated Press’ Graham Dunbar:

“Don’t speak – go out and fight, then you will see,” Blatter told reporters Saturday at his annual charity football tournament. “People, they say I should not be a candidate or I should not be elected – they can take the risk to be in the election.”

I hope he put a cap on backwards and posed with his arms crossed upon completion of that quote.

FIFA’s presidential election will go down in 2015, with UEFA boss Michael Platini amongst those expected to make a run at the seat. Blatter had previously said he would step down in 2015, and it’s not something Platini and others are willing to let him forget as they beg for change atop FIFA.

Yet Blatter is expected to put his name in the mixer again:

“Now I say (to) other people, if they want to take the risk, then take the risk,” Blatter said. “That is good. And I am happy to fight. But if you take the risk you also have the chance to lose.”

Tell me true: Did you read those Blatter quotes and hear them as, “Don’t you know how much money I have access to? You know about the bribes, right? Are you not entertained?”

His parting quote in the AP article is particularly tough:

“If I would not be criticized, I would have no value,” he said.

It’s nice to see the word ‘trash’ used in a sentence so close to Blatter’s name.

He should just go ahead and declare his 2015 win as having been “the Vote of God.”

Blatter also said,”This charge of extortion is ridiculous. If anyone mentions extortion again, I will have their legs broken”.

“Try running against me with your feet sunk in concrete… at the bottom of the ocean.”

MLS Don Garber would make a fantastic head of FIFA.
